Our Orthopaedic
Surgical Staff:

Edmund
R. Kappy, MD has practiced General Orthopaedic surgery
in Monmouth County since 1973. He is board certified by
the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a Fellow
of the American College of Surgeons. His training includes
specialty training in the use of the surgical laser and
in minimally invasive surgical procedures, such as arthroscopic
surgery of the knee and micro surgical treatment of disorders
of the spine.
Dr. Kappy
specializes in surgical and non-surgical treatment of fractures,
orthopaedic and sports related injuries of the neck, back,
knee and ankle in adults and in children. |
A graduate of Rutger’s University and New York Medical College,
he continued his training in General Surgery and then Orthopaedic
Surgery at the Bellevue - New York University Medical Center in New York
City. Dr. Kappy is a past President of the New Jersey Orthopaedic Society.

Steven
P. Lisser, MD a specialist in sports medicine and surgery
of the hand, shoulder and elbow. He is Chairman of the
Department of Orthopaedics at Riverview Medical Center
and held an attending staff teaching position at Mount
Sinai School of Medicine.
His undergraduate
degree was earned at Cornell University. After completion
of his orthopaedic training at the Mount Sinai School of
Medicine, Dr. Lisser then undertook additional specialty
training in Upper Extremity Surgery and Sports Medicine.
This included a Hand and Microsurgery Fellowship at Thomas
Jefferson University, followed by a Fellowship in Shoulder
Surgery and Sports Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. |
During his training his research presentations were distinguished
with First prizes from the New York Academy of Medicine and the Philadelphia
Hand Society.
Throughout his
training and career, Dr. Lisser has maintained an active interest
in clinical and basic science research of the hand, shoulder and
elbow. He presented his work at National Meetings of the American
Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and American Society for Surgery
of the Hand. In addition, he has authored chapters in several orthopaedic
and hand surgery textbooks. Dr. Lisser is currently a consultant
for a nationally recognized sports technology company.
Dr. Lisser is
Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and Hand Surgery. He is
a member of various medical societies including the American Academy
of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Society for Surgery of
the Hand.

Reconstruction and Arthroscopy of the Hand Elbow and Shoulder,
Reconstructive Microsurgery, Shoulder Replacement, Rotator Cuff
Disease, Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel Release and Sports Injuries.

Daniel
J. Mulholland, MD specializes in Sports Medicine, Arthroscopic
Surgery, Knee and Shoulder Reconstruction. After completing
his undergraduate training at Notre Dame, he received his
medical education at Georgetown. After his orthopaedic
training at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston,
Dr. Mulholland returned to New Jersey to fulfill his military
obligation as an orthopaedic surgery at Walson Air Force
Hospital.
He returns
now to private practice after fellowship training in Sports
Medicine at Orthopaedic Research of Virginia, which included
work with the Pittsburgh Steelers. |
Dr. Mulholland's special interests include Anterior Cruciate Ligament
Reconstructive Surgery, Arthroscopic Surgery of the Knee, Shoulder,
Elbow, Ankle and Total Knee Replacements. Dr. Mulholland is Board
Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a member
of the Arthroscopy Association of North America.

Bernard
P. Murphy, MD completed his Orthopaedic Training at
Albert Einstein College of Medicine - Montifiore Hospital
in New York. He is a graduate of the University of Medicine
and Dentistry of New Jersey.
He specializes
in Arthroscopy and Total Joint Replacements, as well as
Partial Joint Replacement. All the procedures can be done
through small incision minimally invasive techniques.
Dr. Murphy
has served as Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics
at Riverview Medical Center for many years. |

Arthur
H. Phair, MD specializes in the surgical and nonsurgical
treatment of adult spinal disorders as well a fracture
care, arthroscopic surgery, and joint replacement.
His educational
backround includes a BS in Engineering recieved from Newark
College of Engineering as well as additional advanced studies
in Engineering Science at the same institution. His undergraduate
medical degree was earned at the New Jersey College of
Medicine and Dentistry where he also completed his graduate
training in Orthopedic Surgery. He has completed Fellowship
training in Adult Spinal Surgery at the Swedish Medical
Center in Seattle.

He is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery and is a Fellow in the
American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Steven Friedel , MD
Dr. Friedel received his BS from United States Military Academy
of West Point, New York. He went on to Uniformed Services University
of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, where he received
his medical degree. Dr. Friedel completed his residency in
Orthopedic Surgery at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora,
Colorado.
Dr. Friedel was Board Certified in 1998 and has received numerous
awards including Combat Medic Badge, Bronze Star, Meritorious
Service Metal, Army Achievement Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster,
National Defense Medal, Southwest Asian Campaign Ribbon with
2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Kuwait Liberation Medal. |

Anthony Costa, MD
Dr. Costa received his Bachelors of Science, with honors,
from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey. He received
his medical degree from University of Medicine and Dentistry
of New Jersey-New Jersey Medical School, Newark, New Jersey,
and continued on at UMDNJ to do his residency in Orthopaedic
Surgery. Most recently, Dr. Costa completed his fellowship
at Florida Orthopaedic Institute, Adult Reconstructive Division. |

Keith M. Rinkus, MD, MS
Keith M. Rinkus, MD, MS, is a fellowship certified orthopaedic spine surgeon. He specializes in the surgical and nonsurgical treatment of cervical, thoracic and lumbar spinal pathology including minimially invasive, decompressive and disc replacement procedures.
After completing his BS and MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering, He earned his MD degree at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery internship and residency at the Penn State College of Medicine.

Dr Rinkus continued his surgical training at the Emory University Hospital and Spine Center with a fellowship in Orthopaedic Spine Surgery. In Atlanta, Dr Rinkus was also a staff orthopaedic surgeon with co-appointments at Grady Memorial Hospital, The Atlanta Veterans Administration Hospital and Egleston Children’s Hospital.
Dr Rinkus is a member of various professional organizations including the North American Spine Society and the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He was the recipient of the Pfizer scholars in pain management award, the Wake Forest Medical Alumni Association Scholarship and was granted an NIH young investigator research fellowship during his training. Dr Rinkus maintains an active interest in teaching and furthering the knowledge base in the field of spine related surgical treatment. He is the primary author of several book chapters and scholarly articles related to orthopaedic and spinal disorders.

Randall
L. Braddom, MD specializes in Physical Medicine and
Rehabilitation.
Dr. Braddom
graduated from the Ohio State University School of Medicine.
During his residency in its Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
program, he founded the ECCO Family Health Center which
provided free medical care in the inner city of Columbus,
and was named Columbus Citizen-Journal Man of the Year
for founding the center.
He has
since been president of the Association of Academic Physiatrists,
the Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, the
American Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, the Ohio
Society of PM&R, and founded the Cincinnati Society of
the PM&R. |
He is a popular visiting professor and is Editor in Chief of the
textbook Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, now in its second
edition. Dr. Braddom has served on numerous professional and charitable
boards as well as national panels.

Glenn Forman, MD
Dr. Forman earned his Medical Degree from the Georgetown University
School of Medicine in Washington, DC. He completed his residency
in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of
Michigan. Following his residency, Dr Forman completed a fellowship
in Musculoskeletal Disease at the University of Michigan. He
then accepted a position at the University of Michigan Medical
Center as a member of the teaching faculty.
Dr. Forman is Board Certified by the American Board of Physical
Medicine and Rehabilitation and a Fellow of the American Academy
of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Other professional
affiliations include the Society
for Pain Practice Management, the National Osteoporosis Foundation,
and the International Society for Clinical Densitometry. |
